The projects, taking place in the Nature Reserves around Puerto Deseado, are: -
census of the seven colonies of Magellanic penguins, Spheniscus magellanicus (2005 - done)

study of the reproductive success of Magellanic penguins (2006 done, 2007 done, 2008 ongoing)
- census and reproductive success of Rockhopper penguins, Eudyptes chrysocome, at Isla Pinguino
(2006 done, 2007 done, 2008 ongoing)
- aerial census of breeding colony of Imperial Cormorant, Phalacrocorax atriceps, at Isla Chata (2007 - done, 2008 - ongoing)

photo-identification of Commerson's dolphin, Cephalorhynchus commersonii, visiting the estuary, for the purpose of estimating the size of the population (since 2005 ongoing)
- birdwatching aimed at establishing a list of marine and land bird species for the Nature Reserve (since 2005 onwards)
